I trained for seven years before becoming an illustrator and hold a BA in Scientific and Natural History Illustration, a PGCE and an MA in Children's Book Illustration.
My style developed gradually over the years and I have experience working with a wide variety of different media, including Oils, Guache, Acrylic, Watercolour, Pen and Ink, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign as well as the website software Adobe GoLive and Adobe Dreamweaver.
I feel it's been a really good thing to allow my style to develop gradually because this has enabled me to try so many techniques and find out what really suits me.
I have also illustrated a wide variety of subjects from fantasy to still life - it's all been good fun.
The past year has been very exciting, I've undertaken commissions for a variety of clients including Pendle Productions, Your M&S Magazine and Fylde Borough Council.
I've also been featured on the Association of Illustrator's Website for their October 2010 Monthly Theme, exhibited work at The National Exhibition of Wildlife Art, Blackpool and the Fylde College Art Gallery and I also became a finalist in the BBC Wildlife Artist of the Year Competition 2011.
I have also worked on six children's books - four written and illustrated by myself and two collaborations. Of partcular note is 'Pedro and Buzzy' - a collaboration with Kate Labno designed to raise awareness of the needs of children with hearing loss attending main stream schools - copies of this book have been requested by a deaf society. Also, 'Mayfly' - an MA project I undertook has now been approved to be an ebook published on uTales.com.
